Elephants on display at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Wash. on December 15, 2011. First one photographed is Bamboo, a female Asian elephant born in Thailand in 1967. (44 years old). Followed by Watoto, a female African elephant born in 1969/1970. You can tell them apart because Bamboo is "hairier". The third elephant seen in the outside photos is Chai born in 1979 in Thailand. The elephants were in the barn for their daily bath. Steam can be seen rising from their backs afterwards on this chilly, rainy day. Also, photographed are the lion-tailed macaques. The temperature in Seattle at 10am was 41 degrees, lightly raining. (photo Karen Ducey)
