10/23/03 crab NWS::  Processor Martha Oliva from Mexico works on the packing line at the Unisea plant in Dutch Harbor, AK.  Oliva says she earns about $20,000 year but has no expenses while working at the plant and sends her money back to her family in Mexico.  Caught in Unisea employs about 1200 processors for a 5 month contract (on average) during its peak months in January and February.  The processors representing around 12 different countries, are supplied with airfare from Seattle, food, laundry service, meals, housing, and medical care from Unisea so they're cost of living is minimal and many are able to save their money.
