10/20/03 crab NWS:: Crewman Erik Snyder gears up to go out on deck during the Bristol Bay red king crab season on board the F/V Exito. Also called the "Greenhorn", "Baitboy", and "Swabee" (from the movie "Captain Ron"), and having never been crab fishing before, Snyder was paid a half crewshare and did most of the jobs on the boat nobody else wanted to do including cleaning the wheelhouse windows and doing the dishes; in addition to readying the bait. When asked how he felt after his first day on the job he replied, "This sucks. I haven't done a damn thing right on this boat since I started."
