Rex Buck Jr., leader of the Wanapum Indians, walks along the banks of the Columbia River just south of the Wanapum Dam on February 3, 2011. "The river flows in us and we're a part of the river and we're also a part of this land." said Buck. The Wanapum Indians had never moved onto a reservation but negotiated peacefully with a power company to remain on their land. (photo credit Karen Ducey)
